27 de July, 2023

Tourists of French origin lead the list of foreign visitors who, since the beginning of 2023, have visited the Soares dos Reis National Museum, followed by visitors from the United Kingdom, Spain, the United States of America, Brazil and China.

Fully reopened to the public last April, with the inauguration of the new Long Term Exhibition, the Soares dos Reis National Museum has so far registered a total of 43,387 visitors, of which 34.5% are foreigners.

The list of nationalities that most visited the Soares dos Reis National Museum, during the first seven months of the year, is ordered as follows: France (27.4%), United Kingdom (26.5%), Spain (11.6%) , United States of America (9.4%), Brazil (4.6%) and China (3.2%), followed by other origins with less expression.

Statistical data from the Soares dos Reis National Museum confirm the information recently revealed by Tiqets, an online platform for booking and purchasing tickets for museums and attractions, that the French are leading the search for cultural and entertainment experiences in Portugal.

Between January and July 2023, the platform recorded a 42% increase in ticket bookings for museums and national attractions compared to the same period in 2022.

Currently, the Portuguese market is in the top 10 markets in which Tiqets operates, in terms of the number of tickets sold, ahead of countries such as the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.

According to information released today, Portugal is the second country in the EU (after Greece) to recover tourists faster. Tourism in Portugal is thus preparing to break records, a journey that started in 2022 and which places the country in the world’s top 10 of those who recovered more quickly tourists lost during the pandemic context.
