169th Birth Anniversary of the painter José Malhoa

José Malhoa divided his life between Lisbon and Figueiró dos Vinhos, where he lived in a house better known as cocoon of Malhoa.

On the 50th anniversary of 25 April, we remember the ‘Burial of the Museum’

On 10 June 1974, the artists’ protest outside the Museum led to the creation of the Contemporary Art Centre (CAC 1976-1980).

Agostinho Salgado: Naturalist painter and Museum curator

His oeuvre has a naturalistic character and his main themes are landscapes and portraits. He was most inspired by the rural landscapes around Porto and Braga.

180th Birth Anniversary of José Simões de Almeida

Soares dos Reis is the author of the Portrait of Simões de Almeida (pictured), which belongs to the collection of the Soares dos Reis National Museum.

For the 2nd year, Museum Gardens host Porto Beer Fest

From 12 to 16 June, Porto Beer Fest will take place at the Soares dos Reis National Museum. The event will bring together more than 300 brands and “the best brewers in the world”, say the craft beer festival organisers.

New issue of the MVSEV magazine

The Friends of the Soares dos Reis National Museum – Dr José de Figueiredo Group, will be launching a new issue of the MVSEV magazine on 23 April at 6pm in the Auditorium of the Museum.

182nd Birthday of Antero de Quental

Politician and writer, he is represented in the collection of the Soares dos Reis National Museum in a drawing by António Carneiro, dated 1913.

Impact of investment on Porto’s economy

The Museum hosts the presentation of a study which shows the economic, social and environmental impact of a group of companies and investors that have been making a decisive contribution to the economy of the city of Porto.

Communicating well is an art.

And, to help you in this noble task whenever communication from the Museu Nacional Soares dos Reis concerns, here you will find a set of visual guidelines. Please follow the rules contained in this manual in all work that expresses our identity. The objective is to maintain, together, a language that is coherent and respectful of both the best communication standards and the architecture of our brand.
