The self-portrait of Isolino Vaz, from the MNSR painting collection, is the highlight of the exhibition that the Gaia City Council promotes as part of the centenary of the artist’s birth. The exhibition, open from January 21st to April 22nd at the Municipal Library, also includes oil paintings, portraits on various media, drawings, studies of the stained glass windows of the Igreja do Monte da Virgem, book illustrations, pieces of sculpture, medals and photographs . Born in Vila Nova de Gaia in 1922, Isolino Vaz was a renowned artist and academic, having taught drawing to the architects Álvaro Siza and Alcino Soutinho and to visual artists such as Graça Morais and Joana Vasconcelos.
