Carved rosewood; interior covered in red velvet, golden spike; escutcheon in carved and repoussed silver
The progressive sophistication of domestic life habits, essentially in the second half of the 18th century, is manifested in this type of civil furniture pieces: displayed on sideboards in the dining room, these objects displayed inside, exposed on the inclined surface, the cables of silver cutlery. This example brings together the best technical and artistic qualities of 18th century Baroque furniture: the box with a wavy surface, the carving with baroque ornamental vocabulary, palmettes and detailed floral species, to which a mask was added on the lock.
