The painting signed by Henrique Pousão, piece of the month of May, is an unfinished work. The painter, a state pensioner in Italy, was working on the canvas to send it as proof of completion of the third year of the course he was attending in Capri, when, in the summer of 1883, he returned to Portugal for health reasons, in the hope of a healing that didn’t happen.
