The Soares dos Reis National Museum and the Matosinhos Town Hall hosted the Aurélia de Souza: Women Artists in 1900 International Congress, bringing a scientific dimension to the commemorative programme on the centenary of the artist’s death. The scientific committee was drawn from the Art History Institute of the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of the New University of Lisbon; the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Faculty of Arts of Porto University and the School of Arts of the Catholic University of Porto. The congress, organised in partnership with the Círculo Dr. José de Figueiredo – Amigos do Museu Nacional Soares dos Reis, was sponsored by BPI | “la Caixa” Foundation.
